Duration and Distance of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

In a normal Annapurna Base Camp Trek, the ABC trek can be completed within takes 11 to 20 days. You can also shorten the days to 8 to 9 days. In the ABC trail you should walk to 5 to 6 hours daily. Sometimes it is not uncommon to walk for 7 to 8 hours daily. 

In the ABC Camp the distance you aim to cover is 115km with walking 10 to 20 km each day. This is shorter than treks like Manaslu Circuit Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Kanchenjunga Trek etc. An experienced trekkers and mountainners can cover the whole distance efficiently. For novices, you may prefer short Annapurna Base camp Trek.

If you are not used to walking or hiking, the long walks may cause anxiety and other various problems.

Weather/Temperature in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Weather is one of the major factor that determine the major difficulty while the ABC trek. Weather, climate, season, and altitude condition determine the ease and difficulty of many treks. 

The Autumn season is the peak season of ABC Trek. It is mostly due to calm weather conditions in the mountain in Autumn. After autumn, The spring season, post and pre monsoon are the best time for the ABC Trek.

 On the sunny day in Annapurna, at the months of autumn and spring, the average temperature is about 15 to 20-degree centigrade. In summer, the average temperature is from 20-25 degrees centigrade.In the winter, the average temperature is approx below 0° to to minus 17 degrees centigrade at night. 

Altitude Sickness in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Altitude Sickness is one of the major problems of the ABC Base Camp Trek. The higher altitude that you climb thinner level of oxygen you will encounter.  

The Altitude of the Annapurna Base Camp has the altitude of 1300m /4,265ft and ends up reaching up to 4130m /13,549ft.The high altitude may be adjustable and bearable for some trekkers and mountaineers while it may cause high health problems to others.

While you may cross the altitude of 3,000m/9,842ft, you may face the change in the environment and be prone to altitude sickness. Altitude Sickness may cause health problems like headache, diarrhoea, dizziness, loss of appetite, vomiting, shortness of breath etc. Such problems may caus high diffulties on your ABC Trek.

Health/Physical fitness/Training for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The ABC Trek is a less strenuous and classical treks in Nepal. However, the trek is also very difficult for novices. For novices the base camp of the world’s 10th highest mountain is a challenging trail. 

A novice requires training for 6 weeks before making a step for the ABC trek. 

You should:

walk almost 5-6 hours a day,training on leg strength

Training on body flexibility and cardio, Training on stamina.

Also, you can choose simple exercises such as stretching, jogging, swimming, skipping etc.
